Work / work experience wanted

1. Kia ora New Zealand

I'm exploring the idea of opportunities to come and work in the Criminal/Youth justice System in New Zealand. I have lots of experiance and qualifications that would compliment the approach that you have in reducing the risk of offending.

I am a Restorative Justice Officer in England and promote, prepare and chair face to face conferences. I work with both high risk and low risk offenders and victims, including gun and gang related crimes.  I also prepare and chair Family Group Conferences, which as you will know comes from New Zealand.  I'm also a accredited practitioner in mediation and work with disputes in the communities between neighbours.
I started with working for a Youth Offending Team ten years ago as a case manager, but soon developed a passion for face to face conferencing.  It was clear to me that those offenders who met their victims were less likely to reoffend and for the victims it brought empowerment and closure. The evidence that stands out from my work tells me that RJC is the most effective way of reducing crime.

If you feel you have any opportunities that would be of interest to me, or have any questions, or could advise me on who to approach I would be very pleased to hear from you.  I would be looking at (idealy) a short term contract between 6 months and two years but unfortunately am not in a position to work voluntary.  I would however be willing to consider extra duties on a voluntary basis.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely, Jennifer Walker.

2.  My name is Victoria Wills and I have a great passion and interest for the use of restorative approaches, both in the criminal justice context and also for their use in schools.I have specialised in restorative justice throughout my academic career. I did a Masters in Restorative Justice in Canada and at present, I am on a RA in Schools Personal and Professional Development course at Cambridge University, England. I am also working towards becoming a practitioner, by working part-time as a Restorative Justice in Schools Support Worker where I currently live in the UK, in Wales. I am truly committed to the principles of restorative justice and am dedicated to continuing to learn more and building a career in the field. I am particularly anxious to gain more experience internationally, as I love travel and new experiences and I am finding it frustrating searching for an outlet for my enthusiasm for restorative justice in Wales, where it is far from mainstream. As an expert in the field, I am hoping to gain some experience working with restorative justice in New Zealand, a place with such a rich restorative history.

I have attached a CV of my experiences with restorative justice thus far. If you could help me in any way possible, it would be so very greatly appreciated; be it through any ideas you might have of an area I may be able to work in, or the people I should try and contact. I would relish the opportunity to come over and live in New Zealand, either indefinitely or for a short period of time, and feel that the experience would be invaluable for me to one day bring back and advocate for the use of restorative justice back in the UK.
Please do not hesitate to contact me by email on victoriahelenwills@googlemail.com  if you have any guidance or suggestions for how I can make a start. Please also feel free to pass my information along to third parties if you think it could help in any way.
