Organisation Profile: Waitaki Turnaround has been operating since 2001. It offers both Community Diversion and Restorative Justice conferencing. The area covered is from the Waitaki River in the north, Palmerston in the south and Omarama to the west. We have one paid part time employee with the project being funded by the CPU. We have 20 community panelists who offer their time and expertise to the process. Financial support is given by the Waitaki District Council. Our uniqueness is that the local Police do not operate a diversion scheme, with all cases being referred to project Turnaround.
